Faithful To Finish
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Sanctify: to purify internally by renewing of the soul (The greek word in this verse is hagiazō)
Entirely: complete in all its parts, in no part wanting or unsound, complete, entire, whole; free from sin, faultless; complete in all respects, consummate (The greek word in this verse is holoklēros)
“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24
Jesus came to purify a people for Himself (Titus 2:14), and we know our God is a God who finishes His work (Genesis 2:2, John 19:30).
“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” 1 John 3:2-3
Do you hear all of those certainties and promises? Entirely. Faithful. He will. Finishes. We are, we will, we know, when, we will, we will, fixed. ”If”s and “should”s and “maybe”s aren’t part of it. God didn’t say “oops” when He created us, He doesn’t say it while He’s working in us, and He won’t be saying it in glory (Colossians 3:4-5).
Rest assured that He is restoring your soul, mind, body, heart. Out of that confidence, submit to the Holy Spirit’s leadership and fashioning work in your life today.
