Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

— 2 Corinthians 4:16b

We hope your resolutions are off to a good start, but if, like most, you feel overwhelmed by the vision before you, feel like you’re slipping already, or you’ve just straight fallen off the wagon with each and every one of those lofty January 1 goals, hear us say: Happy Renew Year!

As you know, we choose a theme every year to focus our ministry drive. In starting the calendar anew, we couldn’t be more steadfast in our belief that this is a year to renew. Literally, “again to make new.”

But to understand the “new” always requires first looking back at the “old.”

Last year, we created and launched a completely unique parenting conference experience.

We collaborated as a team on The Heart of Man film that is reaching around the world.

We hosted our ninth cohort of interns in a new and deeper way.

We cultivated international partners who are now teaching our content on multiple continents.

We published the third (and best volume yet) of our lifestyle magazine, A World Free Vol. 03 — Deeper.

We developed deeper relationships with ministry partners across the globe.

Our team also grew personally, getting married, having children, buying homes, renovating homes, traveling, sending children to college, walking through challenges, and believing for more. We experienced personal transformation just like you did last year, and just like you will in 2018. Because that’s the thing about sanctification and growth, it’s the Lord’s work! And He is faithful to it whether we succeed in our resolutions or whether we fall flat.

So as we enter a new season, a season at the start of a new cycle, a season of rebirth and renewal, we will again see things grow, and hence things change, because that is the way of healthy things, and it is the manner of progress in the divine pattern that is rooted in renovare—to renew.

Sometimes, that renewal means going out as Abraham did, “not knowing whither” (Hebrews 11:8), except that it is to a place the shepherd is leading, preparing, and protecting.

Let’s go out, and be made new again. As we fight to lead lives of prayer, understanding, resolve, and engagement, let’s remember that the Lord is near to strengthen our resolve moment by moment, day by day.

Let us know how you hope to see “renew” play out in your life this year, or even if you have a different personal theme for 2018. Our team would love to be praying for you!

PS: Thank you to everyone who generously gave to our mission at the close of 2017! We blew past our goal and are filled with immense gratitude for your support and partnership.
