LISTEN TO EPISODE 08
“‘And’ is expansive. It’s broadening. And that is who our God is. It says ‘He spread out the heavens…'”
We have a propensity to swing wildly on a pendulum of priorities… “my faith means I’m going to serve people” or “well, my faith means I’m going to read heavy books on theology.” Actually, our faith, is an “and” faith. We also have a tendency to silo ourselves off into sameness and neglect the diversity of ages, life stages, races, cultural backgrounds, experiences, and testimonies that help us see more of who our God is and what He is up to. In this episode we consider the expansive power of “and,” a word I love because of its ability to bring us together.
LIVING IN THE LOOP
Purity is not a state of being, but a state of becoming P-U-R-E. Coming out of this episode here are ways you can…
PRAY | Pray for unity! Pray for the “and”s that you need to be reminded of.
UNDERSTAND | Understand that our faith is an “and” faith. It involves caring for a diverse people. It involves purifying ourselves and getting our hands dirty to serve others.
RESOLVE | Resolve to get out of your comfort zone. Which teachings of Jesus are you comfortable with? What are some that challenge you?
ENGAGE | Look for ways to interact with someone who has a different story or background than you this week.
GOD HAS THE BEST STORY
“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” —2 Corinthians 5:18
