LISTEN TO EPISODE 03
“Do I believe God has the better story? And then if I do believe that, all of the sudden talking about sex to my kids [or disciples] becomes a privilege, it becomes an exciting adventure I get to unfold to them” —Dan Martin
“Save yourself for marriage.” Hmm… a familiar message, but is this really God’s message about sex? About purity? Not exactly. There’s some truth here, but we’ve got our words all twisted and tangled. There is a whole lot of deception wrapped up in this little phrase as well as some others we’ll consider in this episode. Because that’s the thing about the enemy of our souls… he deals in half-truths, partial-truths, 80/20-truths—distortions that impede the compelling vision God has set before us! Purity is a relationship not an accomplishment. Freedom comes when we walk with The Truth.
LIVING IN THE LOOP
Purity is not a state of being, but a state of becoming P-U-R-E. Coming out of this episode here are ways you can…
PRAY | Lament the lies and distortions. Ask for God to give you compelling, clear vision!
UNDERSTAND | What distortions have impacted you personally? What lies or partial-truths have you heard from the world? From the Church? What does God really say? (Hint: This is your cue to dive into His Word… and then dive back in, and then do it again, and then rinse and repeat, and then… you get the idea. This is a lifelong journey. You can start with the verses listed below from this episode and click through all of our Show Notes to find more!)
RESOLVE | Do you believe God has the better story? Whether you do or don’t, or kinda do and kinda don’t, tell God where you are! Get honest with God about your questions and beliefs about His design for sex.
ENGAGE | Invite others into this ongoing pursuit with you! Invite friends in who can help you along the way, invite your kids or disciples into the adventure of knowing Jesus, hoping in Jesus, and being transformed by Jesus.

GOD HAS THE BEST STORY
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who thus hopes in Him purifies Himself as He is pure.” —1 John 3:1-3
